MANILA — Tropang TNT’s Jayson Castro admitted that it took him a while to get his bearings during their game against Rain or Shine.

Castro sat out a game last week to rest his injured Achilles but returned against the Elasto Painters on Monday to lead the Tropang Texters to a 114-103 victory.

Kita naman sa missed layups at missed jump shots,” recalled Castro in the PBA website.

Castro eventually warmed up and ended up scoring 26 points on 10-of-14 field goal shooting.

Castro added that another factor that keyed their victory over Rain or Shine was their balanced output, both from their first and second unit.

With import David Simon around, Castro was inserted to the second unit.

“Parang two games na ‘yung balanced scoring namin, especially sa second unit,” he said.

The defending champions are now tied with Rain or Shine, Mahindra, and Star in the middle of the standings with a 4-4 record.

Castro stressed that their next few games will be important as they could determine if the team could make it to the top eight before the end of the eliminations.

“Sabi nga ni coach sa amin na we have to treat this game as a do-or-die dahil malabo na tayo makapasok (sa top eight) pag natalo tayo.”
