Amazon Japan now ships games internationally

Import games easy and cheap.

Amazon Japan

Amazon Japan now ships video games and video game consoles overseas.

Overseas shipping only applies to orders that are sold (not “fulfilled”) by Amazon and does not extend to third-party sellers. Though there are some strange inconsistencies (I can order Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna, for example, but I can’t order Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 6).

Console games available across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, Xbox One, and DS (to cite the most recent examples) are region-free, barring a few game-specific exceptions, which means you can play them on your console despite its region. Other platforms, like PS2, Xbox 360, Wii, Wii U, and 3DS, are region-locked, meaning you’ll need a console of the game’s region to play it.

To order from Amazon Japan, you’ll need an Amazon.co.jp-specific account, which is as easy as creating an Amazon.com account. First, head over to Amazon Japan’s “Help” page, click “In English” on the navigation bar, and then sign up. Visit Amazon Japan’s games section here.

Amazon Japan is a great marketplace to have access to. It is constantly lowering its prices, and shipping is express and inexpensive. For example, you can get Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna for PlayStation 4 on Amazon Japan right now for a total of $43 with express shipping, whereas the total with other retailers costs at least $55.

Thanks, NeoGAF.
